Design Goals:
This mural was made for the Toyota Plant in Waterloo. The offset of the type to the left was because the entrance facing that wall was further to the left and we wanted the type to be visible as people on tours approached from a distance. Originally we had a much more diverse range of colours in the design but decided to tint everything with the Toyota red to make it more cohesive with their already existing brand.

Process:
This concept started with wanting to show plants for the employees that work in the facility. Enjoying even an artistic interpretation of nature can improve mood. This also conveys an environmentally conscious message.
To juxtapose the natural parts with something, we decided to surround the floral pattern with schematics that represent the industry and the work done at the factory. In the final version, tilting the grid that the schematics follow creates a more dynamic piece.
Finally, the type is made from car parts that are made to stand out against all the organic forms of the foliage. All of these aspects are rendered similarly to give the whole mural a cohesive look.
